21cm, eighth edition, lvii, 447p., frontis portrait, engraved half -title, 12 engraved plates, tissue guards, 12 text engravings, a.e.g., silk bookmark bound in, green pebbled morrocco, with elaborate gilt decoration, raised bands with gilt decorated columns, gilt spine titles, light staining to upper plate edges (not affecting engravings), rear hinge starting, very good copy in fantastic binding. (Lt) A beautifully bound mid-19th century edition of the 1686 classic. With illustrations by H. Melville dated 1843 and one plate by Cruikshank (Vanity Fair). Engraved half-title by J.M.W. Turner and frontis portrait of John Bunyan by Derby with facsimile inscription. A beautiful example of nineteenth century fine binding and embellishment.
