4to, 27.5cm, the First Edition, Second Issue, xiii,[1](errata page),91p., plus 2 chromo litho colour plates & 25 actual specimens of flies and fly making material in 22 oval mounts on 8 (six double sided) hard card plates with 22 recesses of real flies and materials, the text and mounts in red double line borders throughout, in the original dark green cloth, elaborately decorated spine and upper cover with gilt titles, black stamped borders and decorations & gilt vignette fish and fly pictorial decorations, bevelled boards, a.e.g., some slight foxing else in fine condition, an attractively produced book. Westwood & Satchell p3. Heckscher 18. Sage p3. "With two chromo-lithographic facsimiles. The various patterns and samples are inserted on heavy card stock in an oval frame with raised edge to protec tthem". First book to use actual fly tying materials and flies. It is said approximately 220 copies were produced.
