Samuel Scott was born in London in 1719 and died in 1788 in Hartford, Connecticut in 1788. He had been a Quaker minister for thirty-six years. Originally published in Philadelphia in 1809.

Designs for Shop Fronts and Door Cases (cover title).
London. Printed for I.& J. Taylor, publishers. ?., 4to. 27.5cm, contains 25 (of 27) plates and wanting the title page loose, 25 fine steel engraved plates, original limp cloth wraps, wraps dust worn and chipped, otherwise strong clear strikes, rare (ds1). These are entire steel fronts for buildings. A series of designs for entire steel shop fronts and buildings entrances in the Greek and Egyptian styles, obviously very much influenced by Soane. Very little is known about the author, though according to Calvin there was another edition about 1810, entitle " A Series of Designs for Shop Frontis, Porticos & Entrances to Buildings, Public and Private". Both editions are rare. cf. British Museum. (Under title). RB.31.c.391,(1), cites: p.,  leaves of plates ; 31cm. 4ø. The undated plates are numbered from 2 to 27, the engraved titlepage being the first plate.
