N.d. c.[1845-1860]., folio, 32.5cm, over 200pp., engraved title-pages, bound in half black calf, gilt title "Music", marbled boards, so annotating (fingerings) to scores, some tears repaired, some foxing, and some slight edge wear but in very good to fine sound condition (ds1). ~ A scarce collection of popular early Victorian songs, ballads, marches, waltzes and duets arranged for piano and singers. English composer, Henry Russell (1812-1900) is significantly represented. A very popular and prolific composer, he is best remembered for his "A Life on the Ocean Wave". Although now an obscure collection, this music represents popular entertainment of the masses when "live " was the only venue.
