The "Chase", a long poem in praise of hunting,was printed in 1735 while "Field Sports", on hawking, was published in1742. William Somerville (1675-1742) lived on his estate inWorcestershire and field sports provided the primary subjects for hispoetry. The text vignette illustrations are reminiscent of Bewick. Theplates by John Sartorius are attractive hunting scenes.
