About 390 Canadians served as pontifical troops and an appendix includes a nominal roll. A scarce account of a little-known segment of Canadian history.

Smith who was the Canadian Pacific Railway agent at the Sutton junction station in Quebec. It gives the history and background of the case, the court actions and the liquor selling ruffians. The allegation was that an American liquor seller had hired a Marboro, Mass bartender to remove Smith.
