Takamizawa Mokubansha. ., Oblong 12mo, 12x18cm, being 55 mounted colour woodcuts plates on accordionfolding card paper (paper some what fragile) with separate printed titles in Japanese and English, in red paper over boards, boards loose otherwise near fine (ds1). - Ando-Hiroshige (1797-1858), renowned artist of the UkiyoyeSchool, completed his masterpiece "Fifty-three Sceneries of Tokaido" in 1834. The delightful woodcuts represent the fifty-three lodging stations andvicinities along the Tokaido, or ancient national road from Tokyo to Kyoto,the ancient capital of Japan.

University of Washington Press. 1974., 4to. 28cm, 80p., Limited Edition of 100 numbered and signed copies, this being #78, this edition contains an original stone lithograph printed laid in, this suite numbered 15/50, title and signed by Angell, 1975, in pencil, in a folder, numbered and signed by Angell, with over 70 duotone drawings, (plates and illustrations), in quarter black cloth backed dark brown linen boards, gilt titles and decorations on the spine in slipcase, some slight transfer or spotting on the front free fly & the frontis plate, (a production fault) in fine as new condition (gar). ~ A collection of owl drawings, with narratives, by American naturalist-artist, Tony Angell. With the exception of the barn owl, which is of the Family Tytonidae, all the owls in the book are from the family Strigidae. The extra print, an original stone lithograph, is of the Pygmy Owl. The text drawings were reproduced by offset lithography, duotone process. Note, the other limited print was titled "Flammulated Owl".

His martyrdom is noted as a major factor in extending the Reformation in Scotland. An appendix is a biography of James Beaton (1517-1603), archbishop of St. Andrew's, responsible for the burning of Hamilton and other heretics.

A nice example of Chinese wood bindings.
