One will find here muchinteresting information on the men and events of the time" - Gagnon.Aylmer, Matthew Whitworth-Aylmer, fifth Baron, (1775-1850). On February4, 1831, he assumed office as Governor of Canada. and his administrationof the province lasted until August 24, 1835. From the beginning heencountered the hostility of Louis Joseph Papineau, and the extremePatriotes, and in the famous Ninety-two Resolutions of 1834 the Assemblyof Lower Canada actually demanded his impeachment. His recall in 1835,however, carried with it no censure, and perhaps no governor could atthis period have established friendly relations with the majority in theAssembly". Wallace. Stories and essays from the Pontiac GameClub, established in 1898, in Pontiac county, near Sheenboro, Quebec,(opposite Pembroke, Ont), in the Laurentians. Undoubtedly it's mostfamous member was Frederic Remington, who, in turn, loved the place. Thetwo colour plates (one repeated on front of jacket) -entitled "PontiacGame Club, Canada" -were painted by Remington in 1909.
