An autobiography of John Brabazon (1884-1964) prominent English aviator and politician. He served in the Royal Flying Corps in World War One and was a pioneer in aerial photography. After the War, he served as parliamentary secretary to Winston Churchill at the war office. In 1941, he became minister of aircraft production.

All theatres of the War are studied-North Africa, Palestine, Persia, Iraq, Burma, Sicily, Italy North-West Europe, Malaya, Greece - with a sketch map of each area. At the end of the book are found over fifty map specimens giving a cross-section of the principal varieties of maps which were used operationally. "Restricted" classification is printed on covers.
